How do I get access to the Directory?
The Writer’s Marketplace charges an annual subscription fee of $24.95. Sign up for your account here. This gives you one year of access to our database of industry contacts and information. Select categories in the directory are free and publicly accessible. Members of Queensland Writers Centre and other state writers’ centres in the National Writers’ Centre Network are eligible for a discounted subscription. Contact us to claim yours.
I found an outdated or incorrect entry. What should I do?
Every entry on the Writer’s Marketplace database is manually reviewed and updated regularly, and we contact Listees to verify their details periodically. However, if you see an entry is out of date, notice an error, or are aware of an upcoming change, please let us know so we can keep the database as current as possible.
How is the Directory structured?
Listings in the Writer’s Marketplace directory are broken down into the following categories:

How can I add a listing to the Writer’s Marketplace?
If you are a publisher, literary agent, competition, magazine, newspaper, a website that pays writers for their work or a commercial service for writers, we’d love to list you in the Writer’s Marketplace. Sign up for a Listee account, carefully read the Listee Guide, then make your submission using the Listee Portal. Two types of listing are available for you to choose from:
Free Listing
- 90 day, non-renewable expiry
- Basic contact details
- One specialised field for your category
- <5 business days review time
Standard Listing
$29.95 / year
- More characters to describe your listing
- Multiple web & social media links
- All specialised fields for your category
- Your choice of 5 tags to improve search presence in the directory
- Priority review time for your listing
We assess each listing on a case-by-case basis. To ensure your review for inclusion in the directory goes smoothly, get in touch with any queries or concerns first at [email protected]. Please note that we prioritise paying markets for Australian writers.
Subscribers to the directory are eligible for a discount on their first Listing. Request yours here.
Can I get a print edition of the Writer’s Marketplace?
We are unfortunately no longer producing print copies of the Writer’s Marketplace and no longer stock copies of past editions. The most recent editions produced in print were the 2015/16 series, which included The Australian Writer’s Marketplace, The Australian Writer’s Marketplace: Publishers & Agents, The Australian Writer’s Marketplace: Writing Competitions, and The Australian Writer’s Marketplace: Freelance Opportunities.
