While most of Marie Claire’s feature articles are commissioned from overseas, the magazine maintains a healthy local content. Please make sure you are familiar with our content by reading previous issues. We prefer to receive story proposals, rather than completed work, so send a query letter detailing your idea to the address below. If the editors find the subject suitable, they will contact you. Please enclose clips of your previously published materials, which we are unable to return to you. Read more at Marie Claire FAQ.

Marion Writers offers critiques, encouragement and inspiration to all members. Each member emails up to 1500 words to all other members a week prior to each meeting, and at the meeting honest constructive criticism, written and oral, is exchanged to promote the development and enjoyment of creative writing, concepts and techniques. Member positions are limited. After each meeting we adjourn for lunch at the cafe in the centre.

Focus is on stories that explore the emotional and intellectual experiences of parenting: steers away from ‘top tips’ articles. The more specific and unusual the topic, the more interest in the article. The quality of writing is a deciding factor: need material that is well structured, does not rely on cliches and is grammatically correct. Does not publish stories about a particular product or service. Writers to follow up their submission with the Group Editor if no response within twelve weeks.
