The ACT Government offers an ACT Book of the Year Award for excellence in literature, valued at $10,000 for the winner, $2,000 for any highly commended book and $1,000 for each shortlisted book. The Award aims to support the development of ACT-based writers, promotes writing in the ACT, and contributes to a positive writing culture for the ACT.
A prize of $1000 will be awarded to a book that is not only an outstanding work of fiction but excels at increasing the awareness and developing the understanding of history in children.
Hyades Magazine are open to all writers; however, they prioritise submissions by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled and other traditionally marginalised creators.

We want to help you bring your work of fiction to life. After more than a decade of helping authors by editing and proofreading their works (plus over thirty years running an IT consultancy, where I wrote, edited, proofread and published several hundred technical documents), I put together a small group of likeminded people and started Patrick Editing. We work in all genres of fiction, by providing the following services: Proofreading, Editing, Copy Editing, Stylistic Editing, Developmental Editing and Co-authoring.
