Writing WA is working between the lines and behind the scenes to build a state of opportunity in Western Australia for writers, publishers and other practitioners in the writing sector – not just for the benefit of practitioners themselves, but for the immense social value that great writing brings to individuals and communities.
Writing NSW is the state’s leading provider of services to writers, including courses, seminars and workshops, writing groups, festivals and events, grants and prizes, and information and advice. A not-for-profit organisation formerly known as the NSW Writers’ Centre, they have been providing quality support to the writers of our state since 1991.
Writers Victoria is all about writing. With members throughout Victoria (and beyond), they are the state’s largest organisation supporting Victorian writers. For more than three decades, Writers Victoria has been a leading provider of information, resources and skills development for our members and the broader writing community.

State Theatre Company South Australia is the flagship theatre company of South Australia and is a resident artistic company of the Adelaide Festival Centre. Commissions, performs and tours theatrical productions of new and existing, classic and contemporary, Australian and international work.
The State Library of NSW collects and preserves materials and evidence relating to our place in the world and makes them accessible to everyone in New South Wales and beyond. The Library exists in order to support and encourage research, debate, conversation, inspiration, learning and enjoyment.
Screen Australia is a Federal Government agency charged with supporting Australian screen development, production and promotion. Screen Australia was established under the Screen Australia Act 2008 and from 1 July 2008 took over the functions and appropriations of its predecessor agencies, the Australian Film Commission (AFC), the Film Finance Corporation Australia (FFC) and Film Australia Limited.
Formed in 1991 to promote romance writing in Australia, and to help aspiring authors achieve publishing success. Supports over 700 members including writers from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom. RWA has become internationally recognised and respected by both category and mainstream publishers of romance.

Playlab seeks to challenge perspectives of Australian Culture through Australian Theatre. Uniquely, Playlab does this through developing, publishing and producing new Australian Theatre with playwrights at the centre of the creative process.
The National Library of Australia is the country’s largest reference library. It ensures that documentary resources of national significance relating to Australia and the Australian people, as well as significant non-Australian resources, are collected, preserved and made accessible. Legal deposit is a statutory provision that obliges publishers to deposit copies of their publications in libraries in the country in which they are published. Under the Copyright Act 1968 and various State Acts, a copy of any work published in Australia must be deposited with the National Library of Australia and the appropriate state library. Legal deposit extends not only to commercial publishers but also to private individuals, clubs, churches, societies and organisations.
Operated by Thorpe-Bowker, the ISBN Agency provides International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) to publishers and distributes guidelines for their use. ISBNs are essential for books, whatever format they are published in. The Agency can also provide barcodes.

Youngstreet Poets meets on the fourth Friday of the month at the NSW Writer’s Centre, Rozelle. By invitation only.
A non-profit group dedicated to the development of creative writing in all its forms and promoting local writers. Meetings are held monthly to critique work of members. Sometimes there is a guest speaker or workshop. Other writing-related events are held. Annual literary competitions are held and publication encouraged. Meetings held every fourth Saturday of the month, 1:30-4:30pm at Wyong Senior Citizens Centre in the grounds of Wyong Old Primary School.
Writers in Townsville Society Inc (WITS) is an eclectic, diverse and dynamic group that meets weekly to share and critique members’ work. WITS publishes anthologies of members’ work, networks with other writers’ groups, undertakes projects and enjoys outings and performances throughout the year. WITS has a strong community involvement. Young poets find encouragement to read their work in public at WITS’ Mid Year Poetry Reading. New members welcome.
