Writing NSW is the state’s premier organisation for writers. It is a not-for-profit organisation established to foster writing culture in NSW and support writers in all genres and at all stages of their careers. It offers a comprehensive program of professional development, festivals, events, competitions and provides independent information on writing and publishing.
Formed in 2011, Creative Kids Tales is an industry recognised site designed to assist Australian emerging and established children’s authors. Our services include: Manuscript Assessments, Author Personal Training, Workshops, Author Platform, Online Critique Group, Festivals, Publishing opportunities, Comprehensive Publisher and Agent listing for our Members, dedicated Facebook group for members, monthly online meet-ups, networking opportunities, writing tips and lots more.

We’ll be talking about the representation of LGBTQIA+ characters, writing about LGBTQIA+ characters and sharing writing of our own (if you feel up to it!). Overall, it is a place to be a creative in a space where you know everyone around you gets what being queer means, no need for explanations!
The Australian Poetry is a not-for-profit, national incorporated association established to promote reading, writing and publishing activities associated with Australian poetry in all of its forms.
The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) promotes and protects the professional interests of Australian literary creators. The ASA sets minimum recommended rates for authors and illustrators and provides information about minimum recommended terms for contracts for writers and illustrators.
The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) is the professional association for all performance writers, writers for television, screen, theatre, radio and multimedia. The AWG gives access to legal and contractual advice, provides a script development registration service and a script assessment service. The AWG offers professional courses and publications.
The Booranga Writers Centre (Wagga Wagga Writers Writers, WWWW) assists and promotes local authors and their work. WWWW holds regular readings at local venues, conducts writing workshops, offers writing fellowships and mentorships at Booranga and publishes an annual anthology, ‘fourW’, under the imprint of fourW Press. WWWW is active in promoting writing and writers throughout the Riverina area: Albury, Cootamundra, Griffith, Leeton, Young, Tumut and Tumbarumba.
Australia-wide membership organisation for drama teachers of primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Offers courses, workshops, access to support systems, resources and information about performances. It is the oldest drama association for teachers in Australia.
Express Media is a non-profit arts and media organisation that presents media, writing and arts programs for young people. Express Media’s program includes spoken word events, publishing projects, workshops, seminars, exhibitions and other arts and media related activities. Publishes a quarterly magazine, Voiceworks, the premier national magazine for young writers. Contributions are accepted from artists under 25 years old, including prose, poetry, artwork, comics and cartoons.
The Fellowship of Australian Writers has branches in every state. Membership is open to those interested in writing. The Western Australia branch is based at Tom Collins and Mattie Furphy Houses in Swanbourne, with branches in Esperance and Geraldton. Activities include a varied program of workshops, events, competitions and residencies for established and emerging writers.
Our goal is to establish a children’s literature centre in Queensland where young people can interact with authors, illustrators and storytellers. We aim to engender a love of literature in Queensland children and young people through our projects and events. We run a support group for emerging writers and illustrators called Write Links, offer an annual mentorship and hold writing competitions for adutls and children.

For lovers of good science fiction and/or fantasy. No writing experience required. Also runs a closed list service to which members send new work for peer critiquing, and discuss ideas and publishing opportunities. Meets on the second Sunday of each month 10.00am – 12.00pm.
Legal deposit is a statutory provision that obliges publishers to deposit copies of their publications in libraries in the country in which they are published. Under the Copyright Act 1968 and various State Acts, a copy of any work published in Australia must be deposited with the National Library of Australia and the appropriate state library. Legal deposit extends not only to commercial publishers but also to private individuals, clubs, churches, societies and organisations.
ACT Writers was founded in 1995 and is the leading organisation of writing-based culture in the ACT. ACT Writers advocates for, connects, develops and celebrates writers.

The Australian Historical Association, founded in 1973, is a national organisation of historians, academics, professionals and others, working in all fields of history. Its members number around 600, including universities, libraries and other affiliates.
Illustrators Australia (IA) is an association of illustrators formed in 1989 for the purpose of promoting illustration and the interests of artists Australia-wide. IA maintains a comprehensive online database of illustrators and members, and produces artists source books, workshops/seminars, newsletters and exhibitions.
A professional non-profit association for writers in the fields of film, television, radio, theatre, video and multi-media. Its main activities include skills development and advising Guild members and other industry creatives on rates, contracts, and employment. It also offers credit arbitration, a registration service, and industry know-how.
Playmarket is New Zealand’s only playwrights’ agency and script advisory service. Focuses on the development of New Zealand playwrights and their plays. Performance rights for the vast majority of New Zealand scripts can be obtained through Playmarket.
Formed to provide a public presence and point of contact for literary agents and their staff. Members of the association are required to adhere to the principles outlined in the code of practice.
