We are an informal, open-ended group; we enjoy writing and sharing ideas about the process. All decisions pertaining to the group are made collaboratively. SWG’s aim is to be supportive and encouraging as we foster writing skills. Participation in the set monthly writing task is voluntary, although full participation is encouraged. Membership ranges from experienced, published writers to those just beginning their journey

Meetings are held in Samford Village on the first Thursday of every month (except January) and we gather socially in July and December. Meetings start at 9:30am and last approximately three hours. Read publication for the types of articles, essays and stories published. Visit the website to get a feel for the debate and discussion that develops around each issue. Develop a specific idea and be prepared to describe how you will approach it in terms of style and content before approaching. Think about specific stories rather than general overview articles. Prefer insightful detail and sharply observed experience than a survey of the field.
