A writers’ group offering constructive criticism friendship and support. Meets 1-3pm every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at Coopers Plains Library.
The Guild aims to promote storytelling in communities by bringing together people from all sections of the community to share experiences and stories. It also encourages people to tell stories and develop their own skills in the art. The Guild has regular performance opportunities, with home tellings and concert performances. Workshops are also offered.
We are an informal, open-ended group; we enjoy writing and sharing ideas about the process. All decisions pertaining to the group are made collaboratively. SWG’s aim is to be supportive and encouraging as we foster writing skills. Participation in the set monthly writing task is voluntary, although full participation is encouraged. Association of publishing professionals, including editors, designers, illustrators, typesetters, proofreaders, desktop publishers and publishing consultants dedicated to excellence in publishing in Queensland. It has around 250 members. All welcome to meetings on the first Wednesday of the month. Seminars and workshops are held regularly. A Directory of Editorial Services is available on the website.
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at the School of Arts, and on the third Wednesday at the Botanic Gardens down by Murray Lagoon. We also run a poetry group on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, both times at the School of Arts. Both are open to new members.
We are a creative writing group for the vision impaired, or legally blind. We meet once a month and each meeting is a workshop, where everyone writes from prompts. Writers use laptops, Braille machines, or dictate to a sighted scribe. We produced a double CD set of stories and poems in 2009, which was narrated and broadcast on Radio4RPH.
The Bundaberg Writers’ Club was founded to allow people interested in writing to meet, chat, practise their craft, solve problems, and to try out ideas. Since the club’s establishment, members have been actively involved in the community – presenting literary events like the annual WriteFest, supporting young writers with the YOW awards, taking part in the region’s October CRUSH Festival, and finding as many ways to think and act laterally as we can. A group of like-minded adults who love to write in story or poetic form. The group members enjoy sharing their written work and ideas and seeking out opportunities to develop their craft. These opportunities can include: writing competitions, guest speakers, and participating in writing workshops.
Sisters in Crime (SINC) Australia grew out of a shared interest in women’s crime writing. Members are writers, publishers, students, academics and booksellers but most are enthusiastic readers and viewers of women’s crime on the page and screen. Discounts are offered at regular events as well as a 10% discount at selected bookshops. Its website features news, reviews, details of events and competitions and member-only sections for event reports and blogs.
The Springfield Writers Group was formed to bring together local writers for support and fellowship. The group accepts writers from beginners to established professional writers, and there is no restriction on genre. The group’s goal is to inspire, to support and share, and to develop a network of writing friends. This way, members always have a pool Beta-readers and editors to help them, with the understanding they must return the favour on request. Brisbane’s oldest speculative fiction writers group, Vision writers was founded by Marianne de Pierres and Rowena Cory Daniells in 1996. The group’s primary goal is the critiquing of fiction with the intent of improving not only the piece in question but also honing the writer’s talent as well. We love new members! Anyone from Brisbane and its surrounding area can join (we have members from the Redlands and Ipswich as well – if you’re willing to trek to the meeting we’re happy to have you).

We have a set assignment which is completed beforehand to be read out at the meeting. Our group inspires and mentors those writers wishing to complete a project and for this, we meet on the third Monday of the month. We welcome new and emerging writers from Macleay Island.

Inklings is QUT’s writing, reading and poetry club all wrapped up into one fabric society! We hold monthly book clubs on the last Saturday of every month, regular writing workshops and we have the odd poetry slam every now and again too. A group for seasoned and aspiring writers from Brisbane’s northside in Queensland, Australia. Open to new members.
Carindale Writers’ Group meets every first and third Thursday morning of the month at the Holland Park Library. The service we offer is to provide encouragement through sharing and discussion. We are open for membership to both emerging and established writers of all genres.
A group offering support, encouragement and constructive criticism of writing. Writers of all genres, beginners and experienced welcome. General (assignment) meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month. Beforehand, writers are given reference material on a writing subject and an assignment. Novel and Short Story Critiquing meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of each month.
The group holds workshops and also publishes an annual anthology. Members consist of a group of self-help writers and has published several books on poetry and short stories.
