This is a vibrant community of people with a passion for storytelling. Novels, short stories, family memoir or local history – whatever your writing interest, you’ll find encouragement and a friendly audience at the Gympie Writers Group.
What we do: Open discussions about current projects, accountability for setting and achieving writing goals, advice and constructive feedback, share resources and tools, help those suffering from writers block. All aspiring and professional writers welcome.
The group meets to hear readings of members work, and then provide critique. Also holds workshops on such topics as bookbinding, preparation of various forms of writing, how to use computer packages, etc.
The group holds workshops and also publishes an annual anthology. Members consist of a group of self-help writers and has published several books on poetry and short stories.
The Fellowship of Australian Writers has branches in every state. Membership is open to those interested in writing. The Western Australia branch is based at Tom Collins and Mattie Furphy Houses in Swanbourne, with branches in Esperance and Geraldton. Activities include a varied program of workshops, events, competitions and residencies for established and emerging writers.
A group offering support, encouragement and constructive criticism of writing. Writers of all genres, beginners and experienced welcome. General (assignment) meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month. Beforehand, writers are given reference material on a writing subject and an assignment. Novel and Short Story Critiquing meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of each month.
Express Media is a non-profit arts and media organisation that presents media, writing and arts programs for young people. Express Media’s program includes spoken word events, publishing projects, workshops, seminars, exhibitions and other arts and media related activities. Publishes a quarterly magazine, Voiceworks, the premier national magazine for young writers. Contributions are accepted from artists under 25 years old, including prose, poetry, artwork, comics and cartoons.
Branch of Institute of Professional Editors Limited (IPEd). Association of publishing professionals, including editors, designers, illustrators, typesetters, proofreaders, desktop publishers and publishing consultants dedicated to excellence in publishing in Queensland. Seminars and workshops are held regularly.
Australia-wide membership organisation for drama teachers of primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Offers courses, workshops, access to support systems, resources and information about performances. It is the oldest drama association for teachers in Australia.
Formed in 2011, Creative Kids Tales is an industry recognised site designed to assist Australian emerging and established children’s authors. Our services include: Manuscript Assessments, Author Personal Training, Workshops, Author Platform, Online Critique Group, Festivals, Publishing opportunities, Comprehensive Publisher and Agent listing for our Members, dedicated Facebook group for members, monthly online meet-ups, networking opportunities, writing tips and lots more.
The Copyright Agency is a not-for-profit copyright collecting society that manages the right of authors and publishers to reproduce their work. Their mission is to secure fair payment to authors and publishers for the copying of their works while providing users with a legal and practical way to meet their copyright responsibilities.
The Chermside Writers Group aims to give its members a chance to present their writings, to encourage them to accept fair but civil feedback, and to help them to better understand and apply the accepted rules of the English language.
Carindale Writers’ Group meets every first and third Thursday morning of the month at the Holland Park Library. The service we offer is to provide encouragement through sharing and discussion. We are open for membership to both emerging and established writers of all genres.

The Bundaberg Writers’ Club was founded to allow people interested in writing to meet, chat, practise their craft, solve problems, and to try out ideas. Since the club’s establishment, members have been actively involved in the community – presenting literary events like the annual WriteFest, supporting young writers with the YOW awards, taking part in the region’s October CRUSH Festival, and finding as many ways to think and act laterally as we can. A non-profit, social networking group for published book authors. We usually have an industry guest speaker, and there’s always lively discussion. Please email in the first instance, and provide short bio (couple of sentences) for introduction to group members.
The Booranga Writers Centre (Wagga Wagga Writers Writers, WWWW) assists and promotes local authors and their work. WWWW holds regular readings at local venues, conducts writing workshops, offers writing fellowships and mentorships at Booranga and publishes an annual anthology, ‘fourW’, under the imprint of fourW Press. WWWW is active in promoting writing and writers throughout the Riverina area: Albury, Cootamundra, Griffith, Leeton, Young, Tumut and Tumbarumba.
Our goal is to establish a children’s literature centre in Queensland where young people can interact with authors, illustrators and storytellers. We aim to engender a love of literature in Queensland children and young people through our projects and events. We run a support group for emerging writers and illustrators called Write Links, offer an annual mentorship and hold writing competitions for adutls and children.

The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) is the professional association for all performance writers, writers for television, screen, theatre, radio and multimedia. The AWG gives access to legal and contractual advice, provides a script development registration service and a script assessment service. The AWG offers professional courses and publications.
The Australian Writers’ Centre offers courses in creative writing, freelance writing, business writing, blogging and much more.
The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) promotes and protects the professional interests of Australian literary creators. The ASA sets minimum recommended rates for authors and illustrators and provides information about minimum recommended terms for contracts for writers and illustrators.
The Australian Poetry is a not-for-profit, national incorporated association established to promote reading, writing and publishing activities associated with Australian poetry in all of its forms.
